At work we decided to start doing something for all of our big holidays. For Thanksgiving we came up with this neat little tree and everyday all of us in our unit take a leaf and write something that we are thankful for each day. I think it was a good way for each of us to stop and reflect on the blessings that we have each day. What are you thankful for?

The end of phone blogging!
Ok so I think I am finally going to do it.... I'm going to buy a computer! I have been doing the majority of my blogging from my phone and i think itKs about time I buckle down and do this the right way! I went last week and bought an Ipad. I was under the impression that it was a touchscreen computer... but it was not. It was just like using my phone but more difficult. So i took it back. Target has the best return policy! So i think that very soon i will be the proud owner of some sort of PC! Here is hoping that the next time you hear from me it will be in a pleasant way and not with my fingers tired from all these tiny buttons!

Great Day!
Today I was off from job #1 and job #2! It was quite a momentous occasion..... because that never happens! Me and a gaggle of my coworkers decided to trek up to Charlotte and visit it's most important landmark..... IKEA! My sister came down from Winston-Salem and we spent hours walking through. It was so much fun! We got free lunch! Apparently if you buy lunch there and spend $100 in the store they deduct your lunch bill from your total. So I got a throw blanket, a rug, a giant mirror for my bathroom, napkin rings, and huge desk/craft table for $100. 07. Too excited about that!
P.S. the pic is me and my Melia(my sister) trying on silly hats in IKEA! Awesome trip! Thanks for the ride Jody!

Better Me Epiphany ~ Reflect and Giveaway!
modern letter received!, originally uploaded by lesterhead.
I have been super busy lately! You have probably noticed from the sparseness of my blog. I got a second job! 40 hours as a social worker and 30 something as a server. It really has been great though because it has allowed me do some things that I couldn't have done without the extra money. The main thing that I had been putting off was traveling (even close by). Since I started the second job I've been on 2 trips! One trip to NYC and the other to Asheville NC. Never the less, I am very busy. I think we all find ourselves finding ways to fill up our days with things to do. We work, eat, grocery shop, read, watch tv, and so on and so on. I've noticed with all this busyness that sometimes it’s hard to enjoy the living part of life. We end our day and are so exhausted that we go straight to sleep, scrape ourselves out of bed and do it all over again. That is why I think reflection is such an important part to living our best life. Everyday we should stop and take something in. Our lives are teaching us something everyday but we have to stop and take notice of it. I would encourage everyone to find a few moments each day (when you are coherent and not trying out the newest sleep aid sedative) and reflect on your day. What did you do, what did you learn, what did you love, and where will you go from here.
So I have come up with a challenge! A letter writing challenge! Other than for work I have not written a letter to anyone in years, but I must say I think that the act of writing is important. I believe that writing is one of best tools of communication because it (usually) requires reflection and thought. Good writing conveys a message in a way that the reader feels the message rather than just hearing it. What better way to reflect on our lives then to sit down and tell someone else about it. So I propose for each of us to find someone that we don't talk to regularly and start a pen pal relationship with them. Each week or month take the time to fill someone in on your life and I promise you might find yourself filling your own self in on some things. We could just write in our journals (it’s the same concept) but I know I never follow through with it... so I decided to find someone to hold me accountable. ~ I just have to find out who it will be...any takers? ~
I hope you will do the challenge with me! I will be doing a giveaway for stationary. Leave a comment with who your reflection pal will be (by next Friday!) and I will do a random drawing so you can get some stationary starters! Here is what the stationary will be! I think it's awesome!!
Better Me Epiphany ~ I will take the time to stop and reflect on my great life so that I can savor every last drop of this grand experience that we call living.

Pixelpipe
Well as you can see from all the pictures i went to NYC! It was an amazing(and inspiring) trip! Many posts to come about some of my thoughts along the way! But all those pictures were a mistake! I installed a program called pixelpipe on my phone and had no idea that every picture i took automaticly loaded to my blog and facebook!! So these pictures may be deleted.... or some of them... like the one with my mouth hanging open(not a good look!)
So enjoy my technological incompetance! Ha! And i can't wait to share what i learned on the trip!!

Better Me Day 4?
I made it home from a wonderful weekend in Beaufort, SC! Traffic slowed me down a little but i made it!
Chavice house-sat for the weekend and cleaned up my kitchen! Soo nice to come to a house cleaner than you left it! What a great friend! I even cut some hydrangeas from the yard today too ~all the credit goes to Mrs. Rada! She had great pictures of her flowers on her blog! Thanks for the idea Friend!
So the weekend is done and i am back at work tommorrow... i gotta sike myself up for that! No one wants to go back to the grind after 3 glorious days away from it all!
We went to the river yesterday ~ Edisto River! It was so pretty and peaceful i'm pretty sure my sister dunked me 40 times! IKd post pics but im pretty sure that none of my family is ready to have swimsuit pics on the net! We are workin on it though!
My thought for the day is to cherish everyone around you no matter how minute their role is in your life. Everyone and everything is in your life for a reason. It's amazing how everything is perectly orchestrated out that way.
P.s. i'm applying for a second job tommorrow so pray i get it!!

We finished cleaning out my Mom's office today! After 18 years she has decided to stop working at the school that i graduated from! 18 years is a ridiculous amount of time. I'm excited for this new chapter in her life! It goes to show that it's never too late to try something new and see what it brings you! I wonder what my next new step will be?! We will see! What about you? What new things are you trying? Let me know give me some ideas!
